My goal is to forge and maintain long term relationships with clients by providing sound planning advice, personal reliable service, and highly professional documentation. I can assist with resource consent applications, re-zoning applications, existing use rights applications, consultation, submissions and expert evidence. I can also assess and provide advice on development proposals that may affect you.
I am the owner/principal of Magee Planning. I have over 20 years of experience working both within Councils and as a private consultant. This experience includes consent acquisition (from a variety of Councils), consent processing (on behalf of Councils), feasibility assessments, assessments and advice for clients who may be affected by development, project management, consultation, appeal work, and policy development. I also provide general planning advice unrelated to specific projects.
I am qualified with a Bachelor of Planning (with Honours) from the University of Auckland, and I’m a full member of both the New Zealand Planning Institute and Resource Management Law Association.
I have been involved in successful projects involving residential development of all shapes and sizes, mixed use development, a wide range of commercial development (from factories, childcare centres, to retail), infrastructure, subdivision, events, community facilities, and the protection and development of heritage buildings.
Over the years I have provided expert evidence at the Environment Court, prepared affidavits for High Court proceedings, and represented clients at dozens of local Council hearings. Recently I represented Mt Albert and Mt Eden community groups at a number of Auckland Unitary Plan hearings.
My number one goal is to make the planning process as simple as possible for my clients. The main way I do this is by reducing costs, delays, and uncertainties and by working closely with an established network of trusted professional specialists. Considerable experience working in and with Council enables me to use my knowledge of key people and processes to your advantage. Through this I aim to balance client needs with Council expectations. I will also be up-front with you and explain what I am doing on your behalf.
